GIS Staff


Cal Kembel, Senior Graphics Technologist
Cal has been with ORRSC since November 1976. He has degrees from Lethbridge Community College, Saskatoon Institute of Technology (Formerly Kelsey Institute). Prior to beginning at ORRSC Cal was employed by Alberta Agriculture as a Junior Draftsman / Survey Rodman. He was initially employed with the ORRSC as a Junior Draftsman doing manual drafting and then in the late 1980’s acquired CAD training. Cal was instrumental in the digital conversion of manual mapping to CAD format. He also is the resident IT specialist for ORRSC.

Steven Ellert, GIS Technologist (C.E.T.)
Steven has been with ORRSC since December 2002. He has drafting diplomas from Lethbridge Community College and Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. He also attended Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario where he studied Engineering Technology. Prior to beginning at ORRSC Steven was employed by Alberta Environment for 29 ½ years, initially as a drafting technologist doing manual drafting and then in the mid 1990’s acquired CAD/GIS training. Steven was instrumental in the creation of the Oldman River Region Urban GIS Project.

Jaime Thomas, GIS Analyst
Jaime holds a degree from the University of Lethbridge in Geography with a concentration in GIS, and has been employed by ORRSC for 4 years as a GIS Analyst. Jaime is responsible for the creation and updating of the web delivered Urban GIS Project, custom mapping applications for clients and ORRSC staff, and the management of GPS collection projects.

Mladen Kristic, C.E.T.
Graphics Technologist
Mladen Kristic graduated from Lethbridge College with a diploma in Geomatics Engineering Technology – a discipline which integrates gathering, modelling, analysis, management and presentation of spatially referenced data. He has been with ORRSC since May, 2006. Mladen enjoys his work and his duties as a Graphics Technologist, especially production of various maps (see GIS Services) which are used by our member municipalities, other clients or served over the Internet to our GIS participants.

Jordan Thomas, GIS Analyst
Jordan started with ORRSC in 2007. He graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a Geography degree and a concentration in GIS. Jordan is involved in the Urban GIS Project through the updating and maintenance  of spatial data. He also spends time in the field collecting GPS data for various ORRSC projects. Jordan is an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Penquins and Steelers.
